Railcars need attention too
We have four 1928 Ford Model A railcars that the Westside Lumber Company used with their section crews. Three of these cars have been rebuilt to accommodate more passengers. The other car we use for maintenance of our right-of-way. Here are two of our rebuilt Westside railcars.
Aaron Peck is inspecting the bolts on the chassis of the railcar.
Looks like there is one that needs replacing...thanks Aaron!
What is this?
One of our shop mechanics has been working on rebuilding one of the key components of the shay. Do you know what this is?

Trip Number 350...and counting!
We just completed trip #350 with Engine 10 in our 2013 season. That is roughly 1400 miles, or approximately the distance from the railroad to Elk City, Oklahoma! If we had tracks all the way to Elk City, given our shay locomotive with a cruising speed of 8 mph, and stopping every hour to refuel and service the engine, it would take about two weeks to complete the trip...assuming no other mechanical issues along the way!
Of course, it also means that something else is about to happen...
